National Antiques Week 2013

NATIONAL ANTIQUES WEEK  20 - 28 APRIL 2013

CHAMPIONING YOUNG GUNS OF THE ANTIQUES TRADE

National Antiques Week 20 - 28 April 2013 has a mission to highlight the younger members of the trade (39 and under) who we have called Young Guns of the Antiques Trade, because we believe they hold the future of the antiques trade in their hands. This vibrant band are working across all areas of the industry – owning shops, taking over established and sometimes weary family firms, working as auctioneers, organising antiques fairs and working hard behind the scenes to promote the trade via the antique dealer associations and we have discovered that there are legions of them!

To promote this inspiring and passionate sector of the trade the organisers of National Antiques Week are delighted to announce The Young Guns of the Antiques Trade Awards which will be presented at The Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair, Battersea Park, London SW11 at 6 pm on Thursday 25 April 2013 followed by a fantastic cocktail party sponsored by the owner of the Decorative Fair, David Juran.

The winner and two runners up will be presented with a dazzling array of prizes and the winner will be presented with a coveted award for their mantelpiece.

The Young Guns Awards judges will be looking for the most endearing story of how and why the entrant started their business. They will be expected to demonstrate a real and heartfelt commitment to the industry and show how to generate confidence to encourage other young people to join the trade and visit antiques shops. This campaign reinforces one of the central themes of the mission statement of National Antiques Week:

To Promote and encourage a younger audience to visit antiques shops, fairs and auction houses during National Antiques Week

To promote and endorse the green credentials of antiques and to highlight the exceptional value antiques represent compared with equivalent high street purchases
